Emotional History

Sometimes the emotional history needs to be expressed in order to move on.

It doesn't have to do anything more than exist outside yourself; to someone else or in a journal or on a canvas.

It needs space to breathe and take new shape; to be viewed differently, to let some light shine through, to find its curves and edges. Sometimes it needs more spaces, or places to stretch.

In that space, you might realize it's part of something larger or maybe made up of lots of smaller parts.

That history is as old as you, but it can feel older, ancient, unending.

That history is as young as you, feeling younger, novel, fleeting.

It can be consuming, suffocating, drowning and that's when to give it the space it needs.

No one knows your history better than yourself; they can't see it, they can't save you. You have to take the first step, say the first word.

It's yours. Yours to name, to give shape, to give space.

Its a muse and a teacher. Let it inspire and teach and do it all over again.

Let your emotional history exist outside yourself. Give it space to take new shapes and show you something new.

Let your history breathe, let yourself breathe.
